Raritan: A Quarterly Review is a literary review quarterly publication. Following the tradition of independent magazines such as Spectator and Partisan Review, Laritan provides writers and readers with opportunities for continuous reflection and aesthetic pleasure, unaffected by academic jargon. Raritan was founded by renowned literary critic Richard Poirier in 1981, with support from Rutgers University, with the aim of reaching out to ordinary readers and providing a unique reading experience that cultivates participatory and questioning methods for various cultural texts: literature, art, politics, history, sociology, and even science.
