It is sponsored by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Harbin Institute of Technology, and the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, and is published by Elsevier.

The journal is positioned to rapidly report on hot issues and cutting-edge research results in the fields of environmental science and sustainable ecological technology, aiming to build an academic exchange platform with international influence. It focuses on topics such as environment and health, global climate change, ecological engineering and green sustainable technology, biological processes and technology, green energy and technology, and standards and policies related to green development.
